Abasi beach is a highly recommended destination for visitors who are interested in enjoying holiday doing wave surfing. The beach is only around 30 minutes ride from the city of Manokwari. There are a lot of youth here who can accompany visitors who want to enjoy surfing at Abasi.

There are a lot of coconut trees at Abasi beach. So, visitors will have abundant coconut water to drink. Near the beach, there is volley ball field where visitors can enjoy the sport with the villagers. 

The sea of Abasi beach is a great site to see marine life. Coral reef is the habitat of parrotfish, moorish idol, anemonefish, damselfish, and a lot more. Please, bring your own snorkeling mask if you plan to enjoy snorkeling at Abasi beach.

Accommodation: You could stay at the house of local people for several days when you visit Abasi beach. The cost is between 200,000 rupiahs to 350,000 rupiahs.

• Swimming and snorkeling - The coral reef at Abasasi beach is the natural habitat of a lot of species of marine creatures including Striped-surgeonfish, Red-black Anemonefish, Moorish Idol, Yellow-tailed Blue Damsel, grouper, blue sea star and a lot more. Visitors can see them if they swim while wearing snorkeling mask.

• Playing volley ball - This is a favorite sports activity among youth who live in the village of Abasi beach. Visitors can bring the ball and play with their friends and the villagers.
• Fishing - another important activity which visitors can do at Abasi beach is fishing. This can be done by sitting at wave breaker or by hiring a man or a woman from the beach to paddle his or her canoe to the sea. Night fishing can also be done here. 
• Enjoying coconut juice - there are coconut trees at the beach of Abasi. Visitors can ask a villager to climb one of the trees to pick the fruits. The price of a coconut fruit is very affordable. It is less than 1 US dollar. 

Visitors can stay at a hotel in Manokwari or stay in a homestay at Abasi village.

Surf Lessons for Beginners

We offer surf lessons at Amban beach for anyone who is interested in learning how to surf. The lessons are adapted to ages of learners. 

Beginning wave surfer can be children, teenage boys and girls or even adults. Everyone can learn wave surfing as a way to maintain and improve their health.

Surf Season is Coming

Surf season at Abasi beach of Manokwari has just started. Anyone who wants to take a holiday can choose Manokwari as their destination. Do not forget to bring your surfboard and other devices too.

Surf Expedition from Manokwari City

This is just another gentle reminder that Abasi Surfing is going to conduct expedition along the nothern and southern coast of Manokwari city. This expedition is open to all surfers from inside this country and abroad. Foreign surfers who participate in the event will be able to ride waves from the Pacific ocean that land on unexplored beaches in the remote coastal area of West Papua. The expedition starts on 15 and finishes on 21 December 2015. Every participant needs to bring his or her own surfboards.  

How to get there?

• Fly from your country to Jakarta (the capital of Indonesia)
• After that fly to Manokwari city (by a domestic airlines such as Garuda Indonesia, Sriwijaya Air or Express Air)
• We will meet you at the airport to organize the expedition.

Cost: 4 million rupiahs (approximately 260 Euros) to cover for preparatory works, the transportation, accommodation, food, contribution to local villagers whose land we stay on and beaches we surf at. 

West Papua Surf Expedition

We are going to conduct surf expedition along the north and south coastline of Manokwari from 15 to 21 December 2015. There are a lot of unexplored surf spots in the region. We now open the registration for everybody who is interested in participating in this expedition.
Please, bring your own surfboards and make sure that you arrive in Manokwari city before 15 December.

How to get there?

• Fly from your country to Jakarta.
• And then, take a domestic flight to Manokwari city. Indonesian airlines such as Sriwijaya Air, Garuda, Lion Air and Express Air have got regular flights to Manokwari. There are passenger liners from PELNI that regularly sail between Jakarta and Manokwari (Please, check pelni.co.id for schedule and ticket price)
• We will meet you at the airport or ship harbor.

When the expedition is conducted near Manokwari city, participants will stay in a hotel or guesthouse. However, the coastline is in the south and along the north of Manokwari is very long. So, participants will need to stay in remote areas where there are no hotels or guesthouses. We will build tents for the expedition.
Cost: 4 million rupiahs (approximately 260 Euros). The cost includes transportation between Manokwari and the surf spots, accommodation and food.
